5 Ways to Make Money Online While Working From Home

4:20 am in internet marketing by Haroun Kola

Hi Everyone! If you’re reading this it probably means that you have some interest in making money online! If so, then you are going to need to know two things:

1.) What legitimate ways there are to make money online

2.) What to watch out for to avoid being scammed

Well, in this article I am going to tell you exactly that. I am going to give you 5 legitimate ways to make money online and two things you can do to avoid being a victim of a scam.

**5 Legitimate Ways To Make Money Online**

Affiliate Marketing: Very simply put, affiliate marketing is when you sell someone else’s product and then get a paid a commission for doing so. The advantages to this are that you don’t need a website or e-mail list. The disadvantages are that it is sometimes hard to find a product that well sell, and you are only get paid a percentage of the purchase price.

Online Surveys: This is a great business model for those of you out there that are only looking for a little extra money while working from home. I am not going to lie to you; this is a very difficult business model to make money with. The idea behind this business model is that big companies will pay you to take survey’s that will take you 20-40 min a piece to complete.

The problem with this model is that it is very difficult to find these paid survey opportunities and that most of them only pay a couple of dollars. However, if you have some time on your hands and want a little extra money this might be for you.

Network Marketing: For those of you that don’t know what network marketing is, it is the business model that Amway was based off of. In effect, you make money when people purchase products directly from you (instead of say….Wal-Mart) and when you recruit people and teach them to do the same. It is an old business model and can be a big profit center for the right individual. The type of person that is going to be good at network marketing is the “social butterfly”. The person who is always talking and loves meeting new people. The reason for this is that you will need to talk to a LOT of people about your business to recruit them. So naturally, the more people you talk to the more that will buy products from you and hence sell the products for you.

Creating Your Own Product: Creating your own product requires by far the most setup, but can also be the most rewarding. When creating your own product you need to develop your own website, sales cart, and product. All of these can take time and can cost you a lot of money to pay someone else to do if you don’t know what you’re doing. This is not a business model I would recommend for beginners.

The business model itself is exactly what the name implies. You create your own product, market it, and then sell it online. Sound easy right?? Again, great potential, hard to setup.

EBAY: This is an oldie but a goodie, because everyone can do it! Selling things on e-bay involves setting up an e-bay account and then searching your house for anything that might be valuable to someone else but isn’t to you. Now it will take you a bit of time to learn the in’s and out’s of ebay, but there are fantastic instructional videos to help you with that.

The E-Bay business model is great for individuals who are only looking for a part-time income and are okay with parting with some of their valuables.

**2 Ways To Ensure You Don’t Get Scammed**

Now that you know the ways to make money online, it is now time to make sure you don’t jump in and get scammed. With the economy the way it is right now there are more scams than ever, especially online. So here are couple of things you can do to make sure it doesn’t happen to you:

1.) Don’t ever purchase anything online before doing a Google search for “Products Name Review” ‘This will give you a listing of hundreds of people that have already tried this product and if a good number of people say it is a scam…..it probably is! So read the reviews that come up on Google and make sure you read more than just one.

2.) Do NOT have a mentality that this easy and that you can “Get Rich Quick”. “Get Rich Quick” rarely happens online and when it does it requires quite a bit of luck. Most of the time when people get scammed it is because they have a “Get Rich Quick” mentality. Don’t do it, and don’t have it, because that is EXACTLY what most of the scammers target market is. If something sounds too good to be true, it is!

Okay, I hope you enjoyed this article and it at least gets you thinking about your path to working from home and living the life of your dreams.

Setting up a Pay per Click Campaign Part two of two

4:20 am in internet marketing by Haroun Kola

I have assumed that you have entered some money into your account when you signed up.

The search engine sign up procedures will tell you how much you need to deposit etc.

Now though you have to set your daily budget.

Normally this is requested of you and it is very important that you enter a figure here that you are happy with.

NEVER start a campaign without entering this figure.

If you don’t then you won’t be active for long!

Looking on the dark side and you don’t make any sales could you afford to lose this amount of money daily?

This is your safety net and the search engine will stop your campaign once this figure is reached.

Actually this is not strictly true as sometimes the search engine is not able to stop the campaign at exactly the right moment so look out for the explanations and guarantees given with the company literature

Having decided on the daily budget and the degree of risk you are prepared to accept we next have to consider how much to bid for each click.

Basically the more you bid the higher up you are on the search engine rankings for your niche.

It is not quite as simple as that since other requirements come into play but for our purpose here we will take the simple route,

Ideally you want to be in the first five or so.

Let us suppose that the person with the top spot is paying 10 cents per click, the second 7 cents per click and the third 6 cents.

If you bid 8 cents then you are obviously not going to get the top spot but the second slot looks likely.

However this may not be the case since normally the search engine automatically puts your bid (CPC ‘cost per click) down to just one cent more than the person below is paying.

So it is possible that the second guy has bid 9 cents per click which would mean you have made him/her pay more per click but he/she will remain in 2nd place and you will be third.

I hope that makes it clear.

Later you too of course may be paying less than you bid.

As I said above other criteria may be in force which can change the position of your bid.

The number of times an ad is clicked and the quality of the website to which the ad is linked may also affect the position but for our purpose here we will just consider the CPC.

Note that both the daily budget and the CPC can be altered during the campaign if you feel this is necessary.

When first running your campaign it is a good idea to stop it after a set number of clicks to review the situation before continuing (or perhaps cancelling!).

The “magic figure” I have seen mentioned is 300 clicks.

At this stage most marketers I have spoken to think that this number gives a realistic picture of what is happening.

So is pay per click worthwhile.

Oh yes a resounding yes IF you know what you are doing.

I hope I haven’t put you off from trying this method by this article but I have just tried to make clear all the ramifications.

Fortunately search engines are making the system easier to understand all the time.

As always treat your internet selling efforts as a BUSINESS with absolute CONTROL. That is the secret.

So go for it!

How to Inspire Interaction

3:20 pm in internet marketing by Haroun Kola

As you sit down to write a blog you need to ask yourself—who is going to be reading this and how can I help them? As I have mentioned in several of my blog posts the trick is not to create something with the intent to “make” it go viral. The trick is to create a blog that contains valuable information and is well written and then it will go viral. This same principle applies when looking to increase your readers’ interaction. Interaction increases continued readership.

Target Your Audience

I have a good friend who owns a helicopter flight school, when he sits down to blog he is communicating to an entirely different audience than you or I may be intending to communicate with. With this in mind make sure that you are targeting the correct audience. If your blog is geared toward an audience looking for information on kite building you won’t want to write a post that directs most of its attention to model airplane building. You may want to write a blog comparing the similarities and difference between the two but your main goal of the blog post should be appealing to your readers’ main interests.

You may want to write a list of questions that you would be interested to know the answers to if you were new to the niche which you are blogging in and answer those in a blog post or two. Make sure that your blog posts do not wander from the main subject. The more on target your posts are, the more likely your readers are to return to your blog and share it with others they know. Blogs are meant to be dedicated to one subject such as professional networking, vintage car restoration or triathlon training.

I would like to leave you with one last though when targeting your audience in your blog posts. It is a good idea to re-read your blog posts from the perspective of a reader while in the editing process. Make sure that it captures your attention. You want to be sure to give complete thoughts in your writing. Give your readers some food for thought to spark their own ideas and comments on your blog.

Give Them Your Best Information

Your reader needs to be motivated to be engaged with your blog post. After reading your blog post the visitor should have the desire to comment and share your blog. Why? Because it had valuable information, it was not a sales pitch and it was well written. I am an advocate of giving some of your best content away free. If you have captured your readers’ attention and have given them some quality information they are much more likely to share your content.

Have you discovered something incredible in your niche lately? Your reader will probably want to know about this information as well. Consider what you would want to get out of reading a blog and make sure that those goals are met in your own writing. If you are giving great information in your blogs your readers will literally beg for more. Getting your readers to ask you for more is the goal of writing in the first place and a validation that you are writing something that they want to read and are actively seeking.

I recently read a blog from Brian Solis called 21 Rules of Engagement. It was a summary of part of his new book, Engage. Not only did I feel like I was getting quality information and a great preview of his book, but it also made me want to go out and buy his book immediately. I thought that this information he was giving away for free was already valuable so I should go and find what else he has to offer. This is an excellent strategy and very effective to create continued readership whether the future readings are free or not.

Do Something About It

At the end of each blog post use a call to action. Ask your readers to comment on what they think about the specific topic. You can even reward them for doing so. For example another friend of mine posted on Facebook© that whoever commented on a blog post he had just posted on his MyMark™ profile page would get a free copy of his e-book. I am sure he had people read his blog that normally may not have, but with this kind of reward they took the time. The blog needs to be good enough that they are happy they spent the time reading it; if this happens they will come back again and again. Even without a specific reward being offered, the reward has now become the quality information you are giving them.

One of the most valuable parts of a blog is the comment section. Usually if one person has a question so do many others. This is a great place for readers to ask questions, answer questions and provide their own tips and tricks that you may not have had time to cover in your blog. You should be asking or telling your readers to leave their comments and make sure that the call to action invites more than just, “great blog.” It’s nice to be validated but it’s more important to provide readers with further information.

Lastly, when leaving a call to action make sure that you act on it as well. If you told your readers to go find something new to learn and write about it in the comments make sure that you are doing this as well. Make sure that you are responding to comments as well. Continue the interaction in your comment section so that your readers will feel like you are offering two-way communication rather than just talking at them. Any webinar presenter will tell you that one of the most valuable parts of every webinar is the questions and comments part at the end of the webinar. Don’t skip this step. It will likely ensure your success as a blogger and a brand builder.

10 Steps To Kick Start Your SEO Campaign

3:20 pm in internet marketing by Haroun Kola

Search engine optimisation or SEO continues to be for countless people a black art. A methodology so secret that it could be easier to transform base metal into gold. Well, there’s no disputing the simple fact that it’s definitely possible to dig very deep and get incredibly involved in the whole process, but excellent gains can be had by following these 10 relatively easy rules:

1. Research the keywords you intend to use for your site – don’t just pull a stack out of thin air. There are many free tools around for this purpose, none better than Google’s own keyword tool.

2. Stitch the keywords naturally into your page copy without spamming. Most importantly you will be delivering a ‘good read’ for your site’s visitors, but you’re also trying to clearly let the search engine spiders know what your site is all about.

3. Write compelling page copy. The better your page copy reads the more likely you are to have people stick around or maybe even dare I say… revisit.

4. Ensure that your website is built with nice compliant code. You want those search engine spiders to sail through your website collecting all that valuable information about your business without hitting nasty brick walls. Don’t clutter your site’s page with tons of inline Javascript and CSS, instead link to external files.

5. Do you have some images on your page? If that’s the case you’ll want to be sure that every image has an ‘alt tag’. This tag is the facility to describe an image to a screen reader for the visually impaired. An important tag for obvious reasons and also it keeps the search engines happy.

6. Ensure you use your title tag. If you’re uncertain where this may be found it sits in the head section of the page code and the resulting title can be seen by site visitors at the top of their browser. Ensure you have a different title on every page and make it descriptive including a couple of important keywords. Don’t spam this tag as it’s an extremely important area of the SEO process and you want it to count. Keep your page titles to below 70 characters and ensure that you keep your really important keywords in the first 55 characters.

7. Ensure you include the meta description tag. This tag is again positioned in the head section of the code and is the area of copy that is placed with your website’s url in the search engine’s results. This is your call to action so use a totally different description relevant to every page. For this Google typically truncates your meta description in the SERPs (search engine results page) to approximately 150-155 characters.

8. Try adding extra content to your site by using a news section or blog. All the optimised content that you add to your site is going to be new content waiting to be included into in the SERPs. All this creates important new avenues to your website.

9. Now get some links to your site! The search engines like to see other websites linking to yours as it’s considered to be a vote of confidence. Write a few articles about a product or service and then upload these to some of the big online article sites like Ezinearticles.com. They permit you to incorporate a link or two in the resource section. Don’t also forget to submit your website to some online directories. The leading ones like Yahoo can be expensive but are great for the important link juice. Some will of course be cheaper and some will be totally free. Beware of cheap looking free directories that are never looked after, though there are some really good new free ones out there that seem to be going places: see the link below.

10. So now get social! Get yourself a Twitter account and begin tweeting. Get some followers and approximately every 15 or so tweets you can promote your website with links to important pages etc. Beware that if you start doing this every other tweet your followers will quickly lose interest and unfollow you.

There you go, nothing like the secret of alchemy!

Article Submission Sites: Submitting To Article Directories

3:20 pm in internet marketing by Haroun Kola

Submitting articles manually is the most time consuming method of doing article submissions, and it produces the most modest results. Still I know there are some people who prefer to submit manually as they are learning the ropes of how to do article marketing.

If you are submitting articles by hand, then there are a variety of article submission sites that you will want to submit to. There are three main types of publishers:

*Article Directories

*Ezine Editors

*Article Announcement Lists

We’ll be covering here how to submit to article directories.

How Do Article Directories Work?

An article directory is a website that publishes articles that other publishers can reprint for free.

Authors will submit their content to an article directory, and then a publisher who is looking for content on that topic will find and republish it on his website or ezine. Publishers love article directories because they provide free quality content.

As an author, what do you get out of having your content appear in an article directory?

When you submit your article, you will include a resource box. This resource box will contain a short paragraph about you and your business, an incentive to visit your website, as well as a clickable link that leads back to your website.

Whenever your article is republished, the resource box will be too.

So, when a reader sees your content on someone’s website, they will also see your resource box, and they will (hopefully!) click the link that leads back to your website.

The resource box is also the means of ‘building links’ to your website. You gain a link to your website each time your article is republished. The more times it is republished the better, because that means you are building more links to your website.

Why Is It Important To Build Links?

These links are one of the main indicators that Google and the other search engines use when deciding how highly to rank your website in the search engine results lists. By building links to your website, you can effectively improve your website-s search engine ranking over the long term. The higher your search engine ranking, the more traffic your website receives.

Why Should You Submit To Article Directories?

By placing your articles in article directories, you are giving your articles the greatest opportunity of being republished.

You may think that publishing your article on an article directory creates just one backlink, from the directory itself. Actually, if all goes well that one backlink from the directory is only the beginning. Ideally your content will be republished repeatedly, building a link to your website each time.

Also, when you submit your article to an article directory it can show up in Google’s results lists. The more ways you create for people to find your content the better. Your ultimate goal is to draw more people from your target market to your website. Article marketing helps you do this.

How Many Directories Should You Submit To?

You will greatly aid your cause if you submit to as many directories as possible.

The purpose of placing your article on an article directory is to have it republished as many times as possible. That is how you build links to your website, which has an impact on your search engine ranking over the long term.

When you submit your content to just one directory, then you have gained one backlink, but you need to wait for publishers to find your article on that directory to build more links.

However, if you submit your articles to many article directories, you are building many links right off the bat, and any links you gain from publishers who find your articles on those directories are just icing on the cake.

If you are submitting articles by hand, obviously there is a limit to how many directories you can submit to. Submit to a few of the big ones, such as Ezine Articles, Go Articles, and Idea Marketers.

What is an Affiliate Program?

2:20 am in internet marketing by Haroun Kola

An affiliate program is basically where you sell a company’s products on a commission type basis on the internet. This program is also known as an associate, reseller or partnership program.

Once the power of the internet was realised many (now probably most) companies have used the internet to increase their sales. Just about all well known companies now have an internet presence.

It soon became apparent that for a company to just advertise their product on the internet was far more limiting than getting many other people to advertise for them as well. So affiliate marketing was born, a win/win situation for both parties.

How does an affiliate program work then?

Basically you sign up for an affiliate program with any company which takes your fancy. Search the net. There are numerous different types of products/services being offered. After filling in their forms you are then given a link which means that for every person you introduce via this link who purchase the product you get paid a commission (see below though)

The problem is that many companies have different rules and you will have to do due diligence on each one. Commission rates vary wildly from pennies in the pound to 50% or more depending very much on the value and type of product/service offered. It stands to reason that a “cheap” book say on a publishers site will not pay anywhere as much commission as, for example, when someone buys a large conservatory or swimming pool via your advertising. However you would probably sell “cheap” books far more often than a swimming pool!! So you have to bear in mind all the different scenarios when making your choice.

So how does the company pay you?

There are three main ways for payment:-

Pay per sale (also known as cost-per-sale)

When you, as an affiliate, send a person to the company site via your link and this person buys the product/service then you get paid. This can be a percentage of the sale price or a fixed amount previously agreed. However take care here as some companies only pay a percentage of their net profit after all deductions have been made. You are very much in the hands of the company with this method since you cannot know what their costs etc are.

Personally I wouldn’t be happy about this net profit system but the choice is yours. Just make sure of the company terms before you sign up. Always read the small print!!

Pay per click

With this method the merchant pays the affiliate based on the number of visitors who click on the link to the company site. In this case the visitor doesn’t have to buy anything and it doesn’t matter what happens once they get to the merchant site. The amount of commission tends to be much lower for obvious reasons. (At least I hope this is obvious!).

Pay per lead (or cost-per-lead)

Here the company pays the affiliate for the number of visitors they refer who sign up as leads. What normally happens is that the visitor fills out a form on the merchant site which the company then uses as a sales lead or may sell to another company for the same purpose.

The above are the most common methods used although there are others including variations of the three mentioned.

Two of the more popular variations are Two-tier programs and Residual Programs.

In the former, which is similar to Network Marketing ( Multilevel Marketing), in addition to receiving commissions based on their own sales and recruiting actions the affiliate also receives commission which is paid on the activities of those people they originally recruited.

With Residual Programs the affiliates continue to receive commissions from people they have referred to the company site if these people continue to purchase goods/services from the merchant. This is particularly applicable where continuous monthly purchases are made eg a magazine subscription

One of the most important considerations we have left to last. That is how does the affiliate go about getting people to visit their site so that they can link through to the merchant?

The answer is that many of the methods used for advertising on the internet would be appropriate. The subject of advertising is too lengthy to go into here so please see my separate report if you need help.

So, yes, affiliate marketing is very worthwhile if you do it correctly.

The major disadvantage is that YOU are not building a list so that YOU can offer them some different products from alternative sources unless you can capture their email addresses and get permission to contact them further. You are, therefore, always having to find new customers rather than building relationships with existing clients which is the better way to a potential huge business.

To YOUR success

Coaching As a Career Makes Sense With Business Experience

2:20 am in internet marketing by Haroun Kola

Business coaching has become a career of choice for many entrepreneurs who are over age 50, some older than 60, and a few over age 70. If you think about our life expectancy being 80 years or more, the new career choice make sense.

These are people who have either worked in a business or owned a business for the previous 30 and 40 years. They enjoy being in the world of business. They have the skills to achieve some level of success or they would have failed in what they were doing long before their 30 or 40 years of experience. Their goal is to remain productive in their later years, on their terms and determining their own hours. And all of them appreciate the financial reward for helping others achieve success in business.

One of the biggest mistakes of beginning online marketers is their reluctance to spend money on a business or marketing coach. What they fail to realize is that learning how to be a successful in their online business requires marketing skills and the lack of those skills may end up costing them more than hiring a good coach.

My official definition of a coach is someone who helps a creative, resourceful, and empathic clients identify their agendas and options, choose a path, create a plan and stay focused. A good coach helps clients become more aware of their strengths, more aware of what inspires them, and helps navigate them to meaningful results.

A tennis coach has a chance to help the team achieve first place in their division if the team players have skill. If they are all beginning tennis players, it does not matter how good the coach may be because the chances are excellent that those kids are not going to reach sectionals. It also will not matter how good the coach is if the 5 starters on the basketball team graduated last year and only 3 players this year have any experience. In other words to be an excellent coach in the pure sense you need to have excellent clients.

I suspect, however, that most professionals and small businesses seek coaches because they have a specific problem. They are not really looking for personal development and empowerment; they are looking for a solution to their problem or want to achieve a particular outcome. As a result coaches, whether or not they are highly trained and certified as coaches, often provide a limited version of their skills. However, if it helps the client then the approach is justified.

Whatever the perspective, coaching is a great way to support clients. Coaches can train, consultants can train and trainers train. In fact, to become a coach with certain certified organizations coaches must go through a training process.

If you are a former teacher you have a reservoir of training skills from your classroom experiences. The beauty of training is that you can train others in person, through books or recordings or information products you create. Keep in mind, however, that training is not coaching in the pure form. In training you teach skills and you are not actually empowering your client. I would argue, however, that those may be the very skills your clients need to empower themselves in the first place! I am not sure you can separate the two and always stick with pure coaching if you do decide to become a coach.

I suspect that many coaches supplement their tasks with mentoring and trainings and sometimes consulting. I also am guessing that this approach works with more clients than those who are looking for pure coaching so keep this in mind if you are thinking of leaving your retirement and becoming a coach. For instance, Tom owns a spa and he has the choice of two coaches. One is an outstanding coach. The other is an excellent coach with experience in running a small business. Who do you think will get the business? My suggestion is not to hide your skills and experience. It will be much easier for you to find a niche that will work well with you.
